Cricket: Black Caps planning for left handers

The Black Caps are hatching plans to deal with the unorthodox in the first test against the West Indies, which starts overnight.

The Kiwis are looking for just their second win on tour, having been dominated in the limited overs formats so far.

Captain Ross Taylor says they need to get used to bowling to left-handers, with seven in the Windies' 13-man squad.

"We need to bowl well against their left-handers, there's a truckload in there and I'm sure we'll get some plans over the next little while."

Meanwhile, making his Black Caps test debut on a spin friendly wicket will suit Neil Wagner just fine.

The same spin friendly block is being used for the test and Wagner says that doesn't worry him in the slightest.

"To have those tough conditions, it's where you've got to stand up and make it count and also when you do walk away with victory, it just makes it so much more sweeter and makes it so much more special because you know the hard yards you had to put in to get there."

Wagner is tipped to get the nod ahead of Tim Southee, with Chris Martin and Doug Bracewell also expected to be included.
