Cricket: Arnel to join Black Caps

Brent Arnel has been called into the New Zealand cricket side and will join a defeated squad in Hobart tomorrow.

The Northern Districts bowler has played five tests since his debut against Australia last year, the last being January's test against Pakistan in Wellington, and has been in good form in the Plunket Shield. He claimed 5 for 43 in Canterbury's innings of 151 last week and also bagged a career-best haul of 8 for 81 playing for New Zealand a against Zimbabwe A recently but missed out on a national contract.

However, New Zealand's batting is the area that needs the biggest improvement in the second test after they capitulated to be all out for 152 in their second innings in the nine-wicket defeat to Australia.

Left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult was 12th man for the first test.
