Black Caps coach Mike Hesson has revealed, on camera, the only way he believes to stop his standout skipper from devastating his opponents with the bat in hand.

So far Kane Williamson has scored 493 runs from 11 innings - including six fifties - to sit at third on the IPL scoring charts.

The New Zealand and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain continues to prove to be a nightmare for bowlers and fielding outfits, none of whom can crack what his weaknesses are.

But, taking a leaf out of the Australian national sides playbook, Hesson has provided insight on how to stop Williamson dead in his run-scoring tracks.

Speaking on camera for Star Sports India, Hesson tells the audience and television show hosts that to beat Williamson, you need to bring in a 12th fielder.

Standing around a miniature cricket field on a table, Hesson explains how Williamson likes to trickle the ball down to third man and square leg.

He says to counter that captains are moving a man to mark that area, but ultimately that opens up gaps in other areas of the field.

"...they move the man from midwicket around to square leg to make sure he can't do that.

"Then he hits it into midwicket for one or two, and as a captain, you're sitting there going, what am I going to do?" Hesson explains.

"For me, what you need to do is bring out this extra guy, superman, and we're going to put him [into midwicket].

"We're going to have to have 12."
