Cricket: Vaughan may miss Ashes defence

England cricket captain Michael Vaughan is to have a fourth operation on his right knee next week and could miss this summer's Ashes defence.

Vaughan will be out of action for between four and six months.

He has not played for England since returning home early from the tour of India in February.

The surgery means he will miss the home series with Pakistan next month and makes him extremely doubtful for the Ashes in Australia over the New Year.
