The New Zealand company responsible for the DRS review system in Australia has had concerns over ball tracking in Adelaide next week allayed.
Initially Animation Research boss Ian Taylor was concerned about how well it would work in the unique test conditions with the pink ball.
However, work done at the Sheffield Shield game at the Adelaide Oval between South Australia and New South Wales recently eased concerns.
"We had a lot of concerns after doing testing down here [in New Zealand] but, actually, under the conditions that were there and the pitch that was laid it was really encouraging," Taylor said recently.
The key was testing the system in like-for-like conditions, as opposed to back in Dunedin.
"It was never just about the pink ball, it was about a whole combination of elements" Taylor said. "It definitely worked. We'd had no trouble tracking a pink ball in our testing, but once it lost colour it was very difficult.
"But on the pitch they'll be playing on in Adelaide, it stayed pink. It's a huge relief."
