Northern Districts Cricket have named two captains for the upcoming season.
James Marshall, vice-captain last season to long time captain Rob Hart, takes over the reins for the first part of the domestic season, with Daniel Vettori assuming the mantle upon his return from international duties against Sri Lanka in December
and January.
Today's announcement follows speculation that Vettori, 25, will also be named one-day captain of the Black Caps for the forth coming series against Bangladesh.
In a statement today, Northern Districts coach Bruce Blair said the dual role would enable them to develop Marshall's captaincy while incorporating Vettori's skills and experience into the team.
"I always enjoy coming back and playing for Northern Districts," Vettori said.
"This time being able to come back with the other Black Caps with the knowledge and experience I have of their games, together with working with James should make this transition even smoother."
Vettori's previous captaincy experience has been restricted to age-group teams and Northern Districts A in the 2000/01 season.
Marshall, 25, skippered the same team in the previous season and is also the twin brother of Black Cap Hamish.
