Rugby
Wesley First XV had to withstand a storming finish from Manurewa to beat the visitors 17-13 and preserve their unbeaten record in Counties Manukau premier schools play.

Wesley led 14-6 at halftime thanks to the boot of first five Adam Pompey and a try to left wing Siope Tavo. Wesley commanded most of the field position, helped by the sinbinning of Manurewa flanker Nanga Iloa. Manurewa came back through a try off a lineout drive to No 8 Viliami Taulani. After five rounds, Wesley, who also have their Second XV in the grade, lead Manurewa by three points.

Pukekohe went 0-4, though with only two defeats on the field, after losing 9-6 to Rosehill.

In Auckland 1A, King's-Sacred Heart clash, the home side won 3-0, taking the Kirkpatrick-Fitzpatrick Cup. King's No0 Ciarahn Matoe kicked the only points of the game. This leaves King's third on 26 points, the same as Sacred Heart and MAGS, the latter keeping the pressure after a good 44-3 win over Dilworth. St Kentigern maintained their hegemony after a 76-5 hiding of Tangaroa. Halfback Carlos Price and centre Braydon Ennor both picked up hat-tricks. Auckland Grammar did it tough, 12-8 over De La Salle. Tries to blindside Sione Havili and a super kick and chase by the young wing Simeon Latu replied to De La Salle's sole try to Lafaele Ikenasio.

Aorere scored the opening try against Kelston but the westerners eventually won 25-10, while St Peter's secured a much-needed bonus point 38-0 win over Otahuhu.
