Cricket may have found a use for the AMI Stadium site if it's no longer suitable as a top level rugby ground.
The Hadlee stand is to be demolished, while the long term future of the stadium remains in doubt.
Canterbury Cricket boss Lee Germon says they don't need the
infrastructure and large stands like rugby, and it could become a boutique ground.
Germon says it was first discussed at a recent board meeting as an alternative to Hagley Park.
Germon says with so much uncertainty, they are continuing with work on Hagley Park.
