New Zealand crews have secured two medals on the opening day of the Australian canoeing championships at the Sydney Olympics regatta centre today.
Steven Ferguson and Darryl Ferguson combined to finish second in the men's K2 1000, just 0.05 seconds behind Australian winners Jacob Clear and David Smith.
The other New Zealand duo, Liam O'Loughlin and Scott Bicknell, took bronze.
Meanwhile, Troy Burbidge and Mike Walker finished strongly over the last 100m to win the K2 1000 B final.
The championships end on Sunday.
