At the age of 40, Brad Thorn has conceded defeat probably for the first time in his life.
As he said in a series of interviews over the past few days as he faces up to retirement this season, no one can beat Old Father Time.
Thorn, formerly of the All Blacks, Highlanders, Crusaders, Kangaroos league and Queensland State of Origin and Brisbane Broncos teams, not to mention latterly of Leinster and Leicester, is finally calling it quits.
In an interview with espnscrum.com, Thorn said his career highlights were his Grand Final wins with the Broncos and Super Rugby titles with the Crusaders, plus a Heineken Cup win with Leinster.
The World Cup victory in 2011, however, he puts on another level.
