Aussie boxer remains on life support

Australian boxer Shannan Taylor remains on life support in a critical condition in a Wollongong hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman confirmed Taylor's condition had not changed from Monday.

But the spokeswoman did not confirm reports that Taylor's life support system was due to be switched off this morning.

She said Taylor's family had asked media to respect his privacy and requested that no details other than his condition be released.

News Limited had also reported that Taylor had been breathing on his own during the the night.

Taylor admitted to having a drug problem early last decade but got his career back on track after three devastating losses in 2001.

Taylor (52-10-3, 37 KOs) won middleweight and super middleweight world titles belonging to the little recognised WBF.

One of the longest-serving professional fighters in Australia, Taylor started his career in the paid ranks in July 1992.
