Sean Sullivan has pulled out of a fight for the vacant New Zealand light-heavyweight belt because of a better offer from Australia that could lead to a match with Anthony Mundine.
Sullivan, 33, will box Sam Solomon, who lost to Mundine on points in what many regarded as an injustice, in
Melbourne on July 24 for the IBF Pan-Pacific middleweight belt.
In August, he will fight on the undercard of Mundine against Ricky Thornberry, the latter defending his Australian middleweight title in Brisbane. The Aucklander hopes the contact will result in a bout against Mundine.
Sullivan had agreed to front up to Sam Leuii for the New Zealand light-heavyweight title vacated by Mike Makata at the Auckland Boxing Association monthly tournament next Thursday.
