Bowls: Medal-winners feature in team to play in Malaysia

Five medal-winners from last year's Commonwealth Games are included in an eight-woman bowls team to play a test series in Malaysia in September.

Nelson's Jo Edwards and Sharon Sims of Palmerston North won pairs gold in Manchester, with Aucklander Marlene Castle taking bronze in the singles.

Pukekohe's Wendy Jensen and Christchurch-based Jan Khan were part of the fours side who also won a bronze medal, though team-mates Anne Lomas and Patsy Jorgensen have since retired from the international scene.

The five are joined by Val Smith, Edwards' Nelson clubmate, Gisborne's Jessie Ann Law and Waikato's Marina Khan.
