The NBA's reigning MVP Stephen Curry is out for at least two weeks after suffering a Grade 1 MCL sprain in his right knee during the Golden State Warriors' Game Four victory over the Houston Rockets on Monday morning (NZT).
Curry's sprained knee forces him out of at least thestart of the second round of the NBA play-offs, assuming his Golden State side advance past Houston in the first round.
The Warriors currently lead the series 3-1.
The Warriors' second round opponent would depend on the winner of the first round series between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers.
Curry struggled during his 19 minutes of play against the Rockets before the injury occurred, scoring six points and shooting two from nine shots.
The star point guard has only missed three regular season games this season.
He had an outstanding 2015-16 regular season, averaging 30.1 points per game, and demolishing the previous NBA record for most three-pointers in a season of 286, by scoring 402.
He is widely expected to claim a second consecutive most valuable player award this season.
