Basketball: Penney 'on board' for next season

Breakers management hope Kirk Penney will stick around for another season with the side.

Penney is on the free agents list and has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave his Breakers contract if he gets a better overseas offer.

Breakers general manager Richard Clarke says Penney has indicated he's still on board for next season.

He says his plans at this stage are to return to the States with his wife to see her family and be back in New Zealand for the start of Tall Blacks duties in July.

Breakers management are in negotiations with a number of players including imports Gary Wilkinson and Kevin Braswell and hope to have a better idea of their squad in the coming weeks.
