His bail conditions include that he live at the Northcross address he gave police, not to associate with the victim and not to consume alcohol or enter licensed premises except for supermarkets.
He can travel for work.
Webster will reappear in two weeks.
He appeared calm when he arrived at court, dressed in a T-shirt and shorts, holding a cup of coffee. He told reporters he didn't want to comment ahead of the appearance.
He earlier told the Herald on Sunday he would "vigorously" defend the charge.
"For sure, I will be defending the allegations," he told the newspaper.
"I'm just glad to be back playing again.
"It was quite frustrating having to sit on the sidelines on Friday as I couldn't help the team, and I had to support them from the sidelines.
"The club has supported me 100 per cent and I am grateful for that but I can't say anything much more about the situation at the moment."
Webster missed Friday night's home defeat to Illawarra after a club suspension for breaching the side's values.
Breakers general manager Dillon Boucher has stressed the one-match ban was a result of being out late during game week and his communication with the club.
According to the basketballer's charge sheet, assault is punishable by up to six months' imprisonment or a $4000 fine.
