Dillon Boucher has set a National Basketball League record in the Supercity Rangers' 101-83 loss to the Southland Sharks tonight.
The 41-year-old Boucher played in his 409th NBL game, eclipsing the record held by Phill Jones, and marked the occasion with 17 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Boucher alsohit his first three pointer since 2012, but it was the Sharks who proved to be the big threat from downtown, hitting 14 threes at a 48 per cent clip as they ran away with the contest.
The Sharks also used their size advantage to win the rebounding battle 47-38, and recieved solid contributions from all their rotation, led by Luke Aston's 21 points.
Southland are now in second spot at 11-6, and are secured of avoiding the 17-0 Wellington Saints in the semifinals.
On the other hand, the loss puts the Rangers at 10-7, and their final home game will be against the Canterbury Rams this Saturday. A win for the Rangers will mean they clinch third spot, while the Rams will have to win their two remaining games to finish ahead of them.
The Sharks' final game of the regular season will be at home to the Taylor Hawks on Sunday.
