Basketball: Knicks paying record

Shooting guard Allen Houston is on the verge of becoming the highest-paid player in New York Knicks basketball history.

The Knicks and Houston Rockets have agreed on a deal which would pay the All-Star guard $US99.25 million ($249.12 million) over six years. If it goes ahead, the contract would easily eclipse the four-year, $US68 million deal centre Patrick Ewing signed with the Knicks in 1997.
