New Zealand captain Pero Cameron made an early exit from the British basketball league playoffs when his Chester Jets team lost 84-89 to Scottish Rocks in the quarterfinals last weekend.
Cameron had 10 points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist in his 35 minutes on court.
The Jets, the 2002 champions,
had qualified third for the post-season and had not lost to the Rocks in more than three years.
It was Cameron's last appearance in a four-year career with the Jets.
Next summer, he will remain in New Zealand to lead a New Zealand-based franchise in the Australian national league.
Cameron will now return home earlier than expected to rest and prepare for Waikato's national league title defence.
They open their 2003 season on Wednesday against Taranaki.
Cameron is not expected to play for several weeks as Waikato coach Jeff Green has said he wants to manage his workload.
