A thousand fans will see the New Zealand Breakers' make their debut in the Australian National Basketball League for free on Wednesday next week.
Team sponsors Harvey Norman have bought 1000 tickets to the match against the Adelaide 36ers at the North Shore Events Centre and will give them away at
stores in Auckland tomorrow morning.
Harvey Norman general manager David Ackery said the company purchased the tickets for the giveaway soon after signing on in August as the new franchise's naming rights sponsor.
"We wanted to guarantee the Breakers would be able to gain maximum support for their first home game as home crowd advantage is crucial in the NBL," Ackery said.
He said ticket sales had gone well and expected a good walk-up crowd.
