Baseball: Fans ordered to split proceeds of ball

The two baseball fans who claimed ownership of Barry Bonds' record 73rd home-run ball were yesterday ordered by a San Francisco judge to sell the ball and split the money, an estimated US$1 million ($1.95 million).

Judge Kevin McCarthy said Alex Popov, who gloved the ball for an instant, and Patrick Hayashi, who ended up with the trophy, had a legitimate claim - and so neither should get the ball outright.
