New Zealand badminton players continued their run of good results in Europe, with success in doubles and mixed doubles at the prestigious Dutch Open.
Aucklander Daniel Shirley and South African partner Michelle Edwards qualified for the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles after beating Danes Kasper Kim Jensen and Helle Nielsen 7-2,
5-7, 7-1, 7-1.
In the first round they beat a Swiss pairing in straight games and they were to face Dutch combination Leo Van den Nouweland and Natalie Verhoeff for a semifinal spot.
Shirley and doubles partner John Gordon, and team-mates Geoff Bellingham and Craig Cooper were also into the last eight of the men's doubles.
Shirley and Gordon conceded just three points in thrashing Australians Ashley Brehaut and Travis Denney, and Bellingham and Cooper defeated a Dutch combination.
