Badminton: New Zealand runners-up in Sudirman Cup

New Zealand lost 1-4 to Singapore to finish runners-up in their group at the Sudirman Cup world mixed team badminton championships in Seville, Spain. Fielding their top line-up, New Zealand could muster only one win when Daniel Shirley and Sara Runesten Petersen beat Hendry Suputra and Jiang Yanmei 15-6, 15-11 in the mixed doubles. New Zealand beat Iceland 5-0 and Poland 3-2 in their first two matches.
