New Zealand have won their first medal on the track at a World University Games, a day after being told it would not be awarded.
Mary Davies got the bronze despite only four runners starting the 10,000m final in Izmir, Turkey.
Davies had been told that she would not be
awarded the medal after finishing the race third in 35m 58.20s.
Because of the small size of the field, only a gold medal was going to be awarded.
However, officials reversed the decision overnight.
Rebecca Forlong qualified for the 1500m final and Sarah Cowley finished 12th in the long jump.
Boardsailor Matt McCormick is placed fourth overall and the women's soccer team won their second match 4-1 over South Africa.
However, tennis players Dianne Hollands and Warwick Foy lost their opening mixed doubles game to Hong Kong.
