World mountain-running champion Jonathan Wyatt, of Wellington, is in top form a month from defending his world title in Turkey.
Wyatt has won the first three mountain grand prix races in Europe, his latest over the 11km at Schlickeralm, Austria, with its gut-wrenching 1300m ascent.
With the best four results from six races counting towards the overall grand prix winner, Wyatt is well on his way to taking out the series.
Anna Pichrtova of Czech Republic, who was third at the world championship race in Wellington last year, has won the first three races in the women's series.
