AUCKLAND

Auckland Teams Cross Country Championships, Barry Curtis Park, East Tamaki - 25 June 2016

Jono Jackson handled the wet and muddy underfoot conditions the best with a convincing win in the 10km in 34:23, 36 seconds ahead of Mike Banks with Peter Wheeler third in 35:09. Jackson was second to Matthew Baxter last year in 33:16 and Banks was third in 33:46. Jackson of ACA won the teams race in 2013 in 33:02 and in 2014 in 33:31. Auckland City Athletics with their seven runners finishing in the top 20 won the teams title from Pakuranga and Wesley.

Ashleigh Williams won the womens 6km in 23:50. Last year she won the same race in 24:23. Esther Keown was second in 24:02 and Fiona Love third in 24:34. North Harbour Bays with their team of five Williams, Keown, Love, Charlotte Gordan and Anna Bramley filling the first five places easily won the teams title from Pakuranga and YMCA. Williams, who is now based in Cambridge at Triathlon New Zealand High performance Centre, will contest the New Zealand cross country championships in August.

Harry Ewing ventured up State Highway one from Hamilton and easily won the under 20 5km in 17:16. Andrew Catley ran a solid race through the mud for second in 17:50 with Cameron Low third in 18:06.

Ewing will get in the New Zealand championships before leaving on 16 August for a four year athletic scholarship at the University of Wyoming. National junior 1500m champion Daniel Hintz will also be taking up a scholarship at Wyoming.

Grace Wood won the under 20 women 4km in 16:12. The under 18 winners were George Cory-Wright and Sophie Atkinson. Zane Powell dominated the under 15 and Dion Wallwork the under 13. Arabella White was a convincing winner of the under 15 women and Sophie Spencer held out Abigail Edwards by three seconds to win the under 13.

Nick Moore was the best of the master men in 37:26 for the 10km, 10 seconds ahead of Brad Luiten. Anna McRae was the fastest master woman in 26:14 for the 6km.

Pakuranga won the combined U/20 and U/18, the U/15, the U/13 and U/11 mens teams and the master women and U/13 women. ACA won the U/20 and U/18 women, Glen Eden won the U/15 women and NHB the U/11 girls.

MASTERTON

Wairarapa 800m - 25 June 2016

Alison Andrew-Paul New Zealands 800m representative at next months world under 20 track and field championships in Bydgoszcz Poland ran 2:07.66 in a mixed race at the Colin Pugh Athletics Track. The national junior womens 800m and 1500m champion has a best of 2:06.84. The race was won by fellow world under 20 champs team member and national junior champion James Preston in 1:51.48.

WELLINGTON

Wellington Marathon, Westpac Stadium - 26 June 2016

Ciaran Faherty continued to stamp his name on the national marathon running scene winning the marathon in 2:36:56. In March he won the Mountain to Sea Marathon in New Plymouth, then finished third in the Rotorua Marathon and just three weeks ago was second in the Christchurch Marathon. In Wellington the Irishman matched strides with local standout, Dave Parsons, for 40 of the 42.2k before the Irishman eased away for a comfortable 36 second. Ed Whiting was third in 2:52:38. Katie Wyrill was the first woman in 3:02:46 from Yumiko Tanaka 3:07:03 and Jo Johansen 3:07:21. Tanaka was in Wellington representing Wellingtons sister City of Sakai. Harry Terwiel won the marathon walk in 4:26:08 with Gabriela Diver the first woman walker in 5:01:49.

Michael Voss won the half marathon in 1:10:14 from Chris Sanson 1:12:08 and Brian Garmonsway 1:12:46. Rebecca Elliott won the womans half in 1:25:03 from Taryn Ryan 1:26:43 and Charlotte Haina 1:27:36. The half walk went to Eric Kemsley in 2:03:55 with Robyn Wolfsbauer the first woman in 2:23:16.

Tim Hodge won the 10km in 33:12, from Nathan Tse 33:41 and Tim Cornish 34:07. Sarah Drought won the womens 10km in 36:26 well clear of Jean Kozyniak 39:23 and Ariana Harper 39:37. The 10km walk went to Bart Henderson 62:37 and Barb Pauling 66:41.

CHRISTCHURCH

Andrew Reese Memorial Relays, Woodend Beach - 25 June 2016

Christchurch Avon was the fastest senior mens team with Team Reese winning on handicap. Chch Avon also won the senior women on time and handicap, the junior women on time and handicap and the master men on time to handicap going to Port Hills. University of Canterbury won the master women, Port Hills the handicap.

Fastest individual 5km laps: SM Ben Musson 15:23, Matt Dryden 15:49, Cameron Swales 15:57. JM Cameron Avery 15:04, Sean Eustace 15:14. SW Elise Sutherland 19:38, Grace Fursdon 19:59, Fiona Crombie 20:23. JW Charlotte Blair 19:53, Natalie Dryden 20:08. MM Chris Mardon 15:59. MW Maggie Chorley 19:26. 2.5km lap; B16 Gregory Coleman 8:06. G17 Navajo Prentice 8:50. G16 Louise Daly 9:07. G14 Neve Moulai 8:34.

DUNEDIN

Barnes Cross Country, Kettle Park - 26 June 2016

Senior men 5km Kirk Madgwick 16:22, Jake Jackson-Grammer 16:22, Blair Martin 16:25, teams Caversham, Leith, Ariki. Senior women 3.75km Mary Gray 15:04, Shireen Crumpton 15:16, Lia Bezett 15:32, teams Caversham, Caversham B, Hill City University. U/18 men 2.5km Matthew Ogle 8:05, Hamish McKinlay 9:39, Josh Hou 9:56, teams Caversham, Hill City University. U/18 women 2.5km Caitlin ODonnell 10:48, Sarah Langsbury 11:45, Katie Wong 13:14.

INVERCARGILL

Handicap series 3 Fosbender Park - 18 June 2016

Eighteen year old Hannah Miller (Gore) had fastest time of all runners in the 8km senior race, running 35:41, 12 seconds better than handicap winner Corey Mennell (Riverton). Madi Hamilton (Winton) was first across the line in the junior 3k race with Benjamin Britton (14) taking fastest time, 11:37 and Jacob Boniface (9) 12:45 next. Jacobs sister Laura was fastest of the girls.

61st Gore Cross Country, Hamilton Park - 25 June 2016

Alan Wilson Woodford (Winton) won the Clutterbuck Cup for first on handicap, starting a near back marker on 11:30 and threading through the field to pass Barrie Sheehy (St Pauls) off 1 minute, on the line. Riley Place and Hamish Kidd actually finished first and second on handicap but being unregistered were ineligible for trophies. Debbie Telfer (Inv) won the Jones Trophy for first woman on handicap. Jack McNaughton (St Pauls) narrowly took fastest time on the 5.4km course with 19:31, just ahead of Alan Wilson Woodfords 19:35, Buddy Small (St Pauls) 19:39 and Dwight Grieve (Fiord) 19:42. Angela Ryan with 24:19 was fastest woman with Debbie Telfer, 24:47, next. Siblings Jacob and Laura Boniface were fastest boy and girl in the 2km junior race. Noah Mcgarry and Madi Hamilton were the handicap winners.

USA

Stumptown Twilight, Portland OR, 23 June: Lucy Oliver won the High Performance 5000m in 15:24.06, just .06 outside a second Rio Olympics B qualifier.

BELGIUM

Brussels Grand Prix, Brussels, 19 June: Brad Mathas 800m 1:58.39 (12rA). Rochelle Coster 100m H 13.60 (+1.1) (4r2). Elizabeth Lamb HJ 1.81m (1).

Belgium Championships, Brussels, 25 June: Michael Cochrane 400m hurdles 50.32 (1h1). 26 June: Michael Cochrane 400m hurdles final 50.67 (1).

POLAND
