Save Jacko Gill will be able to compete at the national track and field champs next month.
The teenager was initially told he was too young for the senior shot put event, with athletes having to be at least 19.
But Athletics New Zealand Sport Manager Brett Addison says they've waived
the rule for Gill as he is such an exceptional case.
Addison says it's rare to get a junior like him and they want him competing at the nationals.
He says the board met last night and it was an easy decision.
