Matthew Mildenhall of Auckland finished third in the men 20 Australian cross-country championship in Hobart on Saturday.
The 18-year-old New Zealand junior cross-country champion recorded 25m 37s for the 8km. Tim Hodge of Wellington was seventh with Aaron Jackson of Auckland 12th.
Auckland senior champion Angus Bell was 12th in the senior men's 12km in 38m 21s.
Holly Van Dalen of Wanganui was fourth in the women's 20 6km. Katie Wright of Auckland was fifth with Van Dalen's twin sister, Lucy eighth.
Hugo Beamish of Wanganui was pipped by one second in the men 17 6km, finishing second in 18m 37s.
