MADRID (AP) Spain's athletics federation says two Spanish athletes have been temporarily suspended after testing positive for banned performance-enhancing drugs.
The national anti-doping agency notified the federation on Aug. 30 that two athletes had tested positive during the Spanish athletics championships, a federation spokesman told The Associated Press on Thursday, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with federation policy.
Spain's new anti-doping law prevents the anti-doping agency and its sports federations from releasing the names of suspended athletes who are under investigation following a positive test.
If the investigation confirms an athlete has doped, then the agency will make their names and their bans public.
Spain's shaky anti-doping record hurt its failed bid to win the right to hold the 2020 Olympics.
