Russian world champion Olga Yegorova is not going ahead with her threat to sue Romanian Olympic athletics champion Gabriela Szabo for remarks she made about her following a positive drug test.
The controversial Russian, who has been at the centre of a doping scandal since winning the 5000m title at the world championships, said after taking the gold medal at the Goodwill Games in Brisbane that she had decided to drop the matter.
Speaking through a Russian interpreter, Yegorova said: "There will be no legal action. I don't even want to think about it. I have already punished her by winning the world championship."
Yegorova tested positive for the blood-boosting drug EPO after the Paris Golden League meeting last month, but was cleared to compete because the test did not conform to International Olympic Committee standards.
