Kiwis urged to learn how to save a life this Restart a Heart Day.
Kiwis are being urged to learn the skills to respond when every second counts this Restart a Heart Day. Speaking on Herald NOW’s Ryan Bridge TODAY, Hato Hone St John’s Jacci Tatnell said 72% of cardiacarrests occur in the home, and are therefore likely to affect those we love most. Matt Harvey from investment and insurance mutual MAS encouraged New Zealanders to sign up for 3 Steps for Life, a free training programme equipping New Zealanders with the confidence to act before it’s too late. The steps are to call an ambulance, perform CPR and use a defibrillator – “and those three things can make the difference between somebody surviving a cardiac arrest in the community to somebody not,” says Tatnell.
