Bank leader says it reveals what internal sales figures can’t.
ANZ is giving customers access to data most companies can’t get anywhere else, says Lorraine Mapu, the bank’s managing director of business. Speaking on Herald NOW, Mapu said The Sauce combines anonymised ANZ data with verified government figures, giving businessowners insight into what’s happening around them as they weigh costly calls like expanding into a new region or across the Tasman. As the biggest bank, she said, ANZ holds the country’s largest data set outside the government, layering it with official figures for insights customers wouldn’t normally see. Historically, Mapu said, businesses have relied on “gut feeling” for such decisions, but The Sauce lets them back that instinct with verifiable data instead, delivered free through their ANZ relationship manager. “The more rich insight you can have as you make those decisions, the better it is,” Mapu said.
