Social media has made healthy eating feel impossibly complicated – and a recent survey has found more than half of New Zealanders have simply given up trying. Nutritional biochemist Dr Libby Weaver and My Food Bag co-founder Nadia Limtold Herald NOW’s Ryan Bridge the fix isn’t another hack or supplement, it’s getting back to basics. Through My Food Bag’s Fresh Start programme, they’re cutting through the noise with simple, whole-food meals that do the thinking for you. Lim says it’s all about removing “mental admin”, because unless people are given the tools and support to put it into practice and make it easy, they don’t do it. Weaver says the key message for those overwhelmed by conflicting food advice is to focus on the basics and eat whole real food.
