A career with Tetra Pak opens up a world of opportunities. Just ask Grant Day and Tom Sherrard, New Zealand-based field service engineers with Tetra Pak Oceania. They value the variety of their work, the autonomy of their roles, and the focus on quality outcomes - as well as the confidence which comes with being part of the world's leading food processing and packaging solutions company.

"Since joining Tetra Pak just over six months ago, I've already been part of the team delivering a large scale infant formula and powder plant for Oceania Dairy at Glenavy," said Grant. "I'm also on the road servicing customers in the Canterbury and Westland regions, and when I'm not, I'm catching up with admin at my home-based office.

"Day-to-day I have a lot of autonomy, but it's good to know that I'm backed up by a global team with access to the latest technology, innovative solutions and global insights," Grant said.

Tetra Pak is the Swedish company that pioneered aseptic packaging, one of the most important food science innovations of the 20th century. Food and beverages in aseptic packaging remain fresh and nutritious for many months, without needing refrigeration or preservatives.

Tetra Pak supplies complete systems for processing, packaging and distributing not just liquid food products such as milk and juice but a broad array of products from milk powder and infant formula, to ice cream, cheese and vegetables.

In fact, Tetra Pak is the world's leading food processing and packaging solutions company. Last year, 178 billion Tetra Pak packages sold in more than 170 countries. The company employs more than 23,000 people worldwide.

Tetra Pak Oceania employs staff in a variety of roles across New Zealand and Australia. In New Zealand, we're currently seeking a project manager, field service engineer and technical sales engineer, as well as automation and electrical engineers.

Field service engineers are responsible for providing technical service at customer sites, including installing and commissioning new equipment and maintaining existing equipment. They help deliver on Tetra Pak's commitment to provide technical support over the lifetime of the company's products.

Prior to joining Tetra Pak as a field service engineer, Grant Day worked as an operations manager, automotive engineer and engineering draftsman for various New Zealand companies.

"The three words I would use to describe Tetra Pak are global, motivated and innovative," Grant said. "One of my biggest learnings from working on Oceania Dairy's dryer project is the amount of teamwork required to get a big, complex job like this done.

"I was exposed to Tetra Pak's processes for managing a large project, and the intricacies of process engineering. It was a great introduction to Tetra Pak Oceania."

Tetra Pak Oceania's extensive experience in spray drying technology and innovation has been a key factor in successfully securing many recent dryer projects across New Zealand, such as Oceania Dairy's infant formula and powder plant at Glenavy.

Tetra Pak values its long-standing relationships with its many customers, which is evident in the collaborative way in which projects are delivered.

Fonterra, a global leader in dairy foods, chose state-of-the-art Tetra Pak processing and packaging equipment for its new long life milk processing plant at Waitoa.

Completed in a record-breaking one year, the plant contains five UHT lines producing UHT white milk and UHT cream for the food service sector, doubling Fonterra's UHT production capacity.

More than 1,200 contractors and staff worked on the plant. Tom Sherrard was part of the Tetra Pak project delivery team at Waitoa.

Previously a machine shop foreman and project engineer with Southern Cross Engineering and BLM Engineering, Tom has been a field service engineer with Tetra Pak Oceania for four years.

"My role was helping with plant assembly and commissioning," Tom said. "I spent most of my time on site at Waitoa, working alongside Tetra Pak and Fonterra staff as well as contractors to deliver this major project.

"The three words I would use to describe Tetra Pak are innovative, team and quality."
Safety is paramount on these major construction projects. Tetra Pak's goal is to be trusted by our customers, staff and contractors to deliver excellent health and safety on all our projects, big and small.

'Nobody gets hurt today' is Tetra Pak's commitment, and the company delivers on that commitment by ensuring the right people, resources and systems are in place to minimise or eliminate work hazards.

Tetra Pak Oceania's strategic safety plan sets annual performance targets, which are reported as part of company objectives. A safety management system is available to all staff.

In the pasts three years, Tetra Pak has successfully delivered more than 25 integrated processing and packaging projects across New Zealand and Australia for customers such as Fonterra and Pactum. Many of our customers have worked with us before, and come back to Tetra Pak because they are confident we can integrate new equipment and associated facilities within existing plants.

They choose Tetra Pak because of our proven track record of delivering everything from innovative individual processing units to customised, automated production solutions with guaranteed performance.

They choose Tetra Pak because of our innovative package range with 12 different systems, from the tetrahedron-shaped Tetra Classic® Aseptic and mass-selling Tetra Brik® Aseptic and Tetra Rex, to the premium shaped Tetra Prisma® Aseptic.

They choose Tetra Pak because we provide a range of distribution equipment - including conveyors, tray packers, film wrappers, crates and roll containers - all developed, produced and marketed by Tetra Pak.

Above all, our customers know that Tetra Pak offers the equipment, packaging and service to ensure they get their products to consumers safely and efficiently, with the highest standards of food safety and quality.

That's why customers keep coming back to Tetra Pak, and why you should consider a career with Tetra Pak Oceania.
