The latest addition to Matamata’s rural retirement haven extends the comforts of home beyond residents’ doors.
Matamata Country Club has officially opened a vibrant new hub for residents: the Clubhouse, alongside Mixture Café.
It’s the beating heart of the village – a shared space where residents can connect, unwind and enjoy life at their own pace.
Residents can step into the warmth of the main lounge, savour a beverage at the bar, explore the library collection, play billiards with neighbours, or connect with loved ones at the café.
The opening of the Clubhouse marks the village’s next phase, with plans for a movie theatre, dedicated billiards room, library, dance floor, plus a dining and lounge area.
Work on the Health Spa has also begun, which will include a 22m indoor heated swimming pool, spa, sauna, gym and exercise room.
The developers, Sanderson Group, also have plans to add a rest home, hospital and special care facility as the village continues to grow.
The 22ha site at 102 Peria Rd has sweeping views of the Kaimai Range and an existing 5ha nature reserve. Once completed, the village will feature an exclusive 3km of walking and cycling tracks.
Village manager Glyn Jenkins says residents gain a “new lease on life”.
With an entry age of 65 and over, the village attracts residents from all walks of life across New Zealand – people ready to embrace a new chapter of life.
“Our residents have worked hard throughout their lives and are now looking to retire somewhere they can make the most of those glorious retirement years, knowing home maintenance and gardens are cared for, which frees up time to lock up, leave and travel, or enjoy some new hobbies.”
Matamata offers the best of both worlds, balancing a bustling township with a slice of rural life and great community spirit.
Jenkins says retirees should ask themselves what matters most for their retirement.
“What will be important to me in 15 years when I’m already on my retirement living journey?
“If the answer is relaxed living, with many modern-day stressors out of the equation and a purpose-built space you can call your own, then perhaps considering Matamata Country Club as an option is worth exploring.”
This retirement village offers more than a home; it offers a lifestyle.
