Lady Elliott Island
Lady Elliott Island is a coral cay located at the southern tip of the World Heritage listed, Great Barrier Reef.
The island is located in a highly protected green zone and the resort is eco-friendly to help preserve the natural environment of the Great Barrier Reef.
Being in a protection zone the island is a haven for marine life and is the home of manta rays and turtles with visits from whales, dolphins and over 1,200 species of fish.
Sir David Attenborough filmed his recent Great Barrier Reef documentary at Lady Elliott Island as it's regarded as one of the best snorkelling and diving spots on the Great Barrier Reef.
Magnetic Island
It is a less known island and ideal for those that like to take the path less travelled.
Located off the coast of Townsville in Queensland's north, enjoy a 20 minute ferry ride to the natural playground of Maggie Island, as referred to by the locals.
It's tradition to hire a moke or topless car on the island. Feel the wind in your hair and the sunshine on your face as your drive around Maggie Island ticking off the natural encounters.
Get orientated with the island on the Forts Walk keeping an eye out for koalas, or explore the secluded national park beaches around Arthur, Radical & Florence Bay.
Saddle up for a horse ride through Maggie's best beach and bush terrain or hand feed rock wallabies on the shore.
The island has plenty to be explored underwater too so don't forget your snorkel and togs.
