They're constantly making it easier for customers to book by embracing technology, and were one of first taxi companies in New Zealand to develop a booking App.
Diane Adrian, a current owner-driver, shares her experience below of what it's like work with Corporate Cabs.
When did you become a Corporate Cabs owner-driver, and what did you do before that?
In the second half of 2011. Most of my working life has been in hospitality prior to joining Corporate Cabs I was a building manager for an apartment complex.
What attracted you to the opportunity, and why did you choose Corporate Cabs?
I saw becoming an owner-driver as a fantastic chance to gain flexibility in my work. I felt I would be able to gain advancement at my own pace, and choose my own working hours.
There was no question of joining any other company than Corporate Cabs. It is rewarding to work with a company which has such a good business model. It has a high profile and great reputation, and my attitude towards business is aligned with theirs. Having worked in hospitality, I know you have to get the system right.
What is the best thing about being an owner-driver?
If you want to work hard, you will reap the rewards and get paid well. You can work when it suits you, what time you start and what time you finish. It is great to know that you are responsible for the passengers and to yourself in terms of your own reputation. It is all about working smarter, not harder.
Corporate Cabs has an excellent driver support system, so I have total confidence in terms of my safety. The operations centre knows where I am at all times. Clients, particularly women, seem to love having a woman driver.
What advice do you have for people wanting to become a Corporate Cabs owner-driver?
The most important thing is to do your homework first. I thoroughly recommend Corporate Cabs to anyone. When you have signed up, the important thing is to listen to the training provided, and take everything on board. The induction and training provided is excellent. I was impressed that Corporate Cabs listens - I suggested they bring in a system of bringing drivers in from the field a month or six weeks after they start, and they've now done that. We can ring our original trainer at any time, and the other drivers are really helpful to newcomers.
