What to consider:
• Breast augmentation, or enlargement, is a surgery which requires general anaesthesia and as such, should be considered carefully. Having the procedure in an accredited hospital with an anaesthetist and skilled theatre team in attendance is highly advisable from a safety point of view.
• What is your goal? This may range from regaining a more youthful contour, undoing the effects of the ageing process, weight loss or gain, or reversing the effects of breast-feeding.
• In New Zealand, the choices are between saline and silicone filled breast implants, although even saline implants have a silicone outer shell. Silicone-filled implants are the implants Mr. Bialostocki uses. Current designs have a cohesive gel that hold their shape and if they are damaged the silicone won't migrate far. There are pros and cons to implants with textured surfaces which Mr Bialostocki discusses with all patients.
• While an increasing number of people seem happy to discuss their cosmetic surgery procedures with friends and others, many still like to keep it to themselves. So, discussing the size and location of your surgical incisions with your Plastic Surgeon is important.
• The size of breast implants is important - for your lifestyle, for a natural result and for your comfort.
