How to eat well – even as the cost of living bites.
Meal kit service Bargain Box is marking its 10th birthday as new research shows three in four New Zealanders are adjusting their shopping habits to cope with rising food costs, My Food Bag co-founder Nadia Lim told HeraldNOW. Lim said Bargain Box, launched as a lower-cost spin-off of My Food Bag, now tracks close to 6% cheaper than an equivalent supermarket shop each week once all ingredients are accounted for. She said the service was designed around simple, familiar family meals with a twist, aimed at cutting the mental load of daily meal planning rather than offering elaborate recipes. Lim said a decade on, the priority remained the same: delicious, nutritious food that’s quick to cook, which is what she says busy families consistently ask for.
