Kiwi blokes who fear their partner's hormonal hissy-fits are keeping tabs on their "time of the month" with online reminders.
About 10,000 New Zealanders have signed up to American site PMSBuddy.com, which sends email warnings when Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS) is due to hit.
The warnings are colour-coded withmessages such as "she's on yellow - tread carefully, fella" and the website claims to be "saving relationships one month at a time".
Women make up about 20 per cent of the users and can send reminders to the men in their lives as a "heads up" about how they're feeling.
PMSBuddy chief executive and founder Jordan Eisenberg said the idea grew from his experiences "growing up around women" and conversations with his male friends.
"It's a little difficult for men to remember when PMS is going to occur and it's not really polite to ask a woman 'hey you're really being a jerk, do you have PMS?'," he told the Herald on Sunday.
"It started as a joke, we thought it'd be humorous and fun, and then it caught on through word of mouth."
Users enter the date and length of the woman's last cycle to calculate when the next periodic storm is due.
Eisenberg believes with more than 100,000 members worldwide, the website is helping men and families cope with the cranky, bloated females in their lives.
"It makes men more considerate - she's feeling a little hormonal, so cut her some slack.
"It's one of those things that's kind of taboo to talk about. We're trying to take away the taboo."
Eisenberg said user feedback has been "overwhelmingly positive" although some women have objected to having their monthly menstrual misery electronically tracked by their partner.
