One of Napier’s most historic homesteads, Balquhidder House, sold for substantially more than its CV of $1.1 million to an out-of-town buyer. John Payne of Bayleys, who sold the property, says the sale price is confidential but it is one of the highest prices achieved for a residential property in the town. Balquhidder House on Napier Hill is set in more than 2790sq m of park-like grounds. The five-bedroom homestead was built in 1861 by Scotsman Captain McGregor, a descendant of the famous Scottish highlander Rob Roy, who named the property after the village he lived in.
