High-end builder-developer Peter Jones and wife Judy chose the name Parc la Vue to convey the charms of their new four-dwelling waterfront apartment block.
They've often selected French names for the upmarket projects Peter is known for producing; this one conveying the building's plum position with fine views of MissionBay's park, fountain and beach. It's a fitting name for exacting residences, topped with a penthouse, which sold in the mid-$5 millions during construction.
"It's a truly prime spot," says Peter, perched in the last apartment for sale, watching sun-baked walkers stroll across the park.
The name also echoes the history of the hard-working couple, who long ago bought Pahiatua's Parkview Tearooms as their first business together. They've come a long way since then, nowadays building top-end residences including Remuera's Stoneridge and Stonecrest apartments and Kohimarama's Pipimea Reef waterfront apartments.
They developed Parc la Vue with their long-time favourite collaborators, designer Brian Cullen and spatial designer Jennie Dunlop of Dunlop Design. Peter climbed on to the roof of a single-level apartment block they bought here almost four years ago to fully appreciate the magnitude of the views they'd tap into.
Judy says: "This has been a two-year project; a year in the planning and 13 months to build."

The couple commissioned their graphic designer daughter, Alice Jones, to design the huge laser-cut exterior wall feature adorning the building's Atkin Ave side. It depicts bubbles rising up through kelp.
The four-dwelling concrete block building on Tamaki Drive has concrete mid-floors and sound-proofing with 6.38mm laminated glass in windows and doors. All apartments have two secure underground car parks plus storage space.
On the market is ground level 2/37 which has its own lawn and secure pedestrian gate straight out to Tamaki Drive. The air-conditioned 161sq m spread opens to a paved front loggia under an adjustable LouvreTec roof.
The light-filled front living area comes with a Samsung 48-inch TV above its gas fireplace. French oak flooring unites it with the designer kitchen incorporating Corian bench-tops and electric-opening touch-to-open overhead cupboards. The kitchen has Miele appliances which are also in the fully outfitted separate laundry.
A second living space with a shuttered window that can connect it to the main living area could alternatively be a third bedroom. The master suite with en suite and walk-in-wardrobe is accompanied by a second bedroom, separate powder room, box/storage room and polished bathroom with curvaceous free-standing bath.
