Bayleys was named Best Large Commercial and Industrial Office of the Year and Paul Hain of Bayleys Central Auckland was named Top Commercial and Industrial Salesperson of the Year at the recent 2015 Real Estate Institute of New Zealand Awards for Excellence.

It is the fourth and second consecutive years respectively that Bayleys has won those awards. The wins were among 10 podium placings achieved by Bayleys at the awards night which included Mike Houlker of Bayleys Auckland Central being named runner up in the Best Multi-Media Campaign of the Year category.

JLL New Zealand was recognised in four separate categories including winning the Boutique Agency of the Year with the highest turnover of any other agency in the boutique category.

The winner of the Personal Assistant of the Year category was Megan Robertson PA to JLL's managing director Nick Hargreaves. She also provides business support to over 30 agents in JLL's industrial, retail and sales teams.

Courtney Doig of Colliers International's Christchurch Agency won the Commercial & Industrial Rising Star of the Year award after completing transactions to the value of $14.9 million last year and CBRE Christchurch was named Small Industrial and Commercial Office of the Year.

John Church, Bayleys national director commercial real estate, said that nationally more than 2100 commercial property transactions were completed by Bayleys throughout New Zealand between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015, to the value of $2.3 billion.

Church credited Bayleys' success in part to the creation of specialist teams in areas such as business sales, hotels, tourism and leisure, and the CBD fringe, along with a strong focus on leasing within the business.

He said the agency had also "driven forward" with industry innovations, allowing the continual growth of all aspects of the business.

"Our marketing teams across all property sectors have successfully integrated traditional print media channels with new-age opportunities in the digital space to ensure the widest possible promotion of listings in New Zealand and offshore. We will continue to innovate in this area to add value for our customers," Church says.

Hain's success in taking out the top commercial and industrial salesperson for the second year in a row, was the result of a number of significant sales and leasing transactions in the 12-month period including negotiating the sale of all four buildings in Spark's head office complex in Victoria Street for close to $250 million. In conjunction with Simon Aldridge of Bayleys North Shore Commercial, Hain also sold a 15,000 sq m office and retail building at 1-7 The Strand in Takapuna which sold for $70 million.

John Binning, JLL's director of capital markets received the runner up award for the Commercial and Industrial Salesperson of the Year category for the second year running.

In 2014 he sold over $350 million of commercial real estate.
