"Resource and building consent has been approved for a 120-child childcare centre and approval also granted for an 83-room hotel issued on the adjoining site, reflecting the range of development options available.
"Albany is an area of significant development interest to the Auckland Council, rezoned under the Unitary Plan to create a new city centre on the North Shore with high density and intensive commercial and residential use.
"Many owners and developers have already taken advantage of the changes including the recently completed Ramada Hotel, Rose Garden apartment development and the new four-story office development under construction at 84 Don McKinnon Drive," says Tankard.
"Special Purpose zoning in this area allows a wide variety of uses including recreation and entertainment, education, student accommodation, medical and commercial."
