Eligibility
1. Entry to the Emirates Buddies competition (the "Competition") is open to all people however the prize is only valid for one (1) child aged between 10 and 16 years as of July, 13, 2012 ("Entrants")

Promoter
2. The promoter of this competition is Emirates Airline (the "Promoter"), in association
with The New Zealand Herald.

How to enter
3. The Competition commences at 08.00am on Monday, July 2 with entries closing on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 11.59pm.
4. To enter, Entrants will be required to fill in an online entry form by visiting www.nzherald.co.nz/emirates
5. All mandatory fields in the entry form must be completed including submitting a maximum of 50 words explaining what being chosen as a Emirates Team New Zealand 'buddy" would mean to the child that you are nominating.
6. The following entries shall be deemed invalid:
a. incomplete entries;
b. any entries that do not comply with the terms and conditions.
7. The Competition will determine 12 winners.
8. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges nominated by Emirates and The New Zealand Herald and based on the criteria of submitting 50 words explaining what being chosen as an Emirates Team New Zealand 'buddy" would mean to the nominated child. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The panel of judges will reach a decision on or before July, 13, 2012.
9. The child that is being nominated must be between the ages of 10 and 16 years as of 13 July, 2012.
10. By submitting an entry, Entrants are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions. The Promoter may amend these terms and conditions at any time.

Prize
11. The winners of the Emirates Team New Zealand Buddies competition will win the following:
a. The right to participate in the launch ceremony for Emirates Team New Zealand's AC 72 craft at Viaduct Harbour, Auckland, on the evening of *21 July 2012, alongside Emirates Team New Zealand crew members. A guardian over the age of 18 will need to accompany each winner to this event.
b. The right to attend and participate in a half-day of activity with Emirates Team New Zealand on a date to be set by the promoters. Winners will get reasonable notice as to when this half-day activity will take place. A guardian over the age of 18 will need to accompany each winner to this half-day activity.
c. An official Emirates Team New Zealand Buddies uniform.
12. Guardians accompanying winners must stay on base while the winners are on board the boat onshore for the follow-up experience.

Winners' obligations
13. The rewards are not transferable; nor can there be a substitution for participation. Only the Promoter at its sole discretion may decide any change.
14. The prize is valid for the dates determined by the promoter only.
15. The selected Buddies will receive a kit containing all the required instructions pertaining to the launch event and the later half-day team experience. Winners will be required to confirm their understanding and acceptance of the details found within their kit and provide any information requested, including proof of the nominee's age. Failure to accept the conditions and commit to the instructions will result in forfeiture, and another "buddy" being selected from all remaining non-winning entries received.
16. By accepting the rewards, the winners consent to Emirates and The New Zealand Herald and their agencies using their name(s) and/or photograph(s) for publicity purposes as determined by Emirates including but not limited to the publication of names on the Emirates websites and in The New Zealand Herald.
17. Any and all ancillary costs including transport to and from the locations where the prizes are to be redeemed are the responsibly of the winner and or their guardian.

Promoter Obligations
18. In the event that the experience or any part of the experience becomes unavailable, The Promoter reserves the right to substitute it with an alternative.
19. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any failure to receive an entry as a direct or indirect result of a technical problem of any kind, including internet malfunction. Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt into the website database.
20. The decisions of the Promoter are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Privacy
21. The information provided to enter this Promotion will be held securely by Emirates and The New Zealand Herald and their agencies and will be used for the purposes of administering the Promotion.

Liability
22. The Promoter (Emirates) and associated partner (The New Zealand Herald) and related bodies corporate, including Team New Zealand Ltd, shall not be liable for any loss, damage, personal injury or death suffered or sustained (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss or loss), which is suffered or sustained arising out of or in connection with the Promotion, the taking of a reward, or any act or omission (whether negligent or not) of Emirates or any of its associated agencies, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
23. The Promoter (Emirates) and Team New Zealand Ltd assume no responsibility for, and the Entrants release the Promoter (Emirates) and Team New Zealand Ltd from, any loss, claim, damage or injury to person or property if, for any reason beyond the Promoter's reasonable control (e.g. due to computer viruses, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures etc), this Promotion is not able to be conducted as planned and/or the Promotion's administration, security, fairness or integrity are corrupted or affected. Further, in such circumstances, the Promoter (Emirates) and Team New Zealand Ltd may modify or suspend the Promotion and/or invalidate any entries or votes of any individual in any way involved in interfering or tampering with the conduct of the Promotion or abusing the communication system upon which the Promotion is being conducted.
25. Where goods or services are supplied by third parties, the Promoter (Emirates) does not warrant the quality of those goods and/or services or the suitability for winners' particular circumstances. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter excludes liability for any loss suffered as a result of the use of those goods and/or service.
26. All entries are deemed received at the time of receipt by APN when received in to APN's the competition database and NOT at time of transmission by the entrant. APN's records are conclusive as to time of receipt. Late, illegal, incomplete, or illegible, entries are invalid. APN is not responsible for such entries nor for any error, technical malfunction, loss, omission, communications delay or failure.
27. Entrants are identified by the email address used to submit the entry. Any prize won by a web entrant will be awarded to the holder of the email address (or that person's parent/guardian) from which that entry was submitted. APN takes no responsibility for disputes resulting from entries submitted using an email address belonging to any other person.
28. These terms and conditions are to be read, interpreted and construed in accordance with the law of New Zealand.
