The zip file will take less time to download. However, the files must be
extracted or unzipped from the file before they can be used.
Opening a Zip file If you're using Windows XP or Windows Vista, then your computer has
built-in support for Zip files. Just double-click on a Zipfile and it
will open in Explorer, just like a folder. Double-click on a file inside
the compressed folder.
If you're using Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT or
Windows 2000 then you'll need to install a special application to open
Zip files. The application recommended to use is WinZip.
Extracting ZIP Files Extracting a ZIP file with Win Zip can be accomplished in a number of
ways. Here are a few methods to get you started:
Right Click - Right click on the file you would like to extract, and
select 'Win Zip' - '"Extract to Here" from the menu - the files will be
extracted.
Win Zip Wizard - To extract your files with the wizard, double click the
file. This will load your file within Win Zip. Click on the "Wizard"
button located at the top of your screen to use the wizard. Follow the
