Youth's death in Dunedin flat not suspicious: Police

The death of an 17-year-old youth at a Dunedin flat is not considered suspicious and will be referred to the Coroner, say police.

The teenager was found at a Cumberland Street at 2.45pm yesterday.

Police initially treated the death as unexplained.

However they have confirmed this morning that there are no suspicious circumstances.

As the matter has been referred to the Coroner police could not comment further.

The 17-year-old male youth's name has not yet been released.

"Police's thoughts are with the man's family at this time," a spokesperson said.
