Youth guilty of sex attack on five-year-old girl

A Tauranga teenager was yesterday found guilty of abduction and of indecently assaulting a five-year-old girl.

Tony Douglas Robertson, 19, was remanded in custody after a jury in the High Court at Rotorua found him guilty on seven charges including abduction, robbery, committing indecent acts and attempted kidnapping.

The girl was lured with the promise of a present as she walked to Maungatapu School with her brother and taken to Kaiate Falls.

Robertson will be sentenced on October 4 in the High Court at Auckland.
