The weather is perfect for outdoor Easter egg hunts today.
Easter eggs hunters are in luck, as fine weather is forecast around the country today.
After a chilly start for some parts of the South Island temperatures were expected to rise, and most of the North Island should enjoy mild temperatures in the low 20s, Metservice meteorologist Tom Bell said.
Some showers were forecast in Northland this morning, which were expected to continue through the day, but the main centres of Auckland Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin should all be fine today.
"Tomorrow we have a front moving up from the south, so that's going to bring some rain to the South Island starting in the morning," Bell said.
Rain was expected to hit only on the west coast of the South Island before moving up to the southwest of the North Island in the evening.
It was otherwise forecast to be a fine day for most of the country with temperatures again in the low 20s.
Another front coming from the south on Tuesday would bring with it a little more wind and rain before a ridge of high pressure brought with it settled weather midweek.
"We will see some stronger winds in the South Island starting tonight and then on Monday and Tuesday," Bell said.
