Nine young people accused over the baseball bat killing of a South Auckland pizza delivery man lay in wait for him after ordering food, a court was told yesterday.
Papakura Youth Court heard during depositions yesterday the nine, ranging in age from 12 to 21, lured Michael Choy, 40, to a
house with a long, dark drive on September 12 last year.
Mr Choy was beaten and robbed and died the next day.
Six of the nine have been charged with his murder. The other three face conspiracy and robbery charges.
A boy aged 12 was believed to be the youngest person charged with murder in New Zealand.
Six of the nine cannot be named.
The other three are Lisa Marie Waikato, kitchenhand, 20, who is charged with aggravated robbery, Casie Rawiri, caregiver, 20, who is charged with robbery and conspiracy, and Whatarangi Rawiri, 17, charged with murder and conspiracy.
The hearing is due to end on Friday.
